Welcome To Las Vegas Nevada
Las Vegas, Nevada holds the title as the most populous city in the state and yet each year receives millions of visitors from around the globe dwarf the number of local residents. As a mega-casino and hotel area, Las Vegas attracts people from all lifestyles. Known as Sin City and the Entertainment Capital of the World, the range of activities to do and things to see ranges widely. Designed as a tourism destination, many of the hotels and casinos here carry exotic names and a mysterious appeal. Visitors to the city can explore much more than just the poker tables and slot machines.

Located in the southern Nevada desert, the founding of Las Vegas began with nothing more than a small settlement established in 1905. The legalization of gambling in 1931 and the building of the Hover Dam nearby helped make the city a tourism destination. Thousands of people working on the dam took refuge in the quick games and the hopes of striking it big. Today, modern residential neighborhoods line the streets, though along the Las Vegas Strip entertainment remains the primary focus.

When planning a trip to Las Vegas, visitors must remember the various other attractions and entertainment options the city offers alongside the casinos. A large selection of shows also attracts many visitors. Tributes, impressionists, comedy, headliners and even hypnotists and magicians pack the houses and venues with fun-loving and exciting opportunities. Another specific set of shows offered include the Cirque du Soleil shows, which feature high-flying acrobatics and musical performances.

Other attractions set Las Vegas, Nevada apart from virtually any destination in the world. The ability to get married in a drive-thru chapel or to enjoy all sorts of adult entertainment remain the more risqué activities here. However, the region features a wide assortment of interesting attractions. Visit the Viva Vision Fremont Street Experience from dusk each night for a multimedia show in the heart of the downtown casino area. The botanical gardens and fountains show put on by the Bellagio hotel and casino attract visitors throughout the day. It also features an art gallery. For fish lovers, a swim through the Aquarium at The Mirage or the Shark Reef Aquarium at Mandalay Bay can appease anyone longing from something other than the desert.

Tempting fate and taking chances help define this city. Visitors can do indoor skydiving or shoot an automatic weapon at the various entertainment, shops, and venues here. Take a helicopter ride over the city. Take a kayak trip down the Colorado River from the base of the Hoover Dam. Add racing, horseback riding and riding on a gondola to your list of things to do when you arrive. With two main entertainment and tourism areas, Las Vegas creates the perfect escape from daily life. In the Downtown area, visitors enjoy a range of casinos, as it remains the older portion of the city. The main attractions and most visited activities occur on the Las Vegas Strip, though. The most popular casinos and hotels make this home.

Even though all of this man-made fun sounds good, another aspect of Vegas lurks just outside the city limits. Spend some time rock climbing or hiking through the desert. Guided tours take groups out throughout the day most times of the year. Rent mountain bikes or even do some skiing in the mountain ranges. Travelers often use Las Vegas as a lunching point for a visit to the Grand Canyon. The hot climate makes the area an ideal retreat during the cold winter months up north.

Whether you visit family in the residential and suburban areas or planning a retreat into one of the glitzy hotels or small bed and breakfast establishments, the bright lights of The Strip will grab your attention. Spend some time sightseeing. For those desiring to spin the roulette wheel or play a few hands of poker, the casinos are always open and accommodating to these needs.
